Today we received our first order of chicks. We ended up with 26 Black Australorps and one mystery chick. We’ll have to wait and see what it turns out to be once it gets older. We only ordered 25, but sometimes extra chicks are added to make sure they are kept warm enough for the trip.
One of the chicks was pretty weak upon arrival and within the hour of receiving them had died. Chick count: 26.
We gave them water right away and got them into as big of a box as we had on hand. We’ll certainly be better prepared next time.
We did just get fuzzy little black and yellow chicks, but when they get big this is what they should look like.
